I picked this up at an Antique, Militaria, and Collector's show in Munich, Germany, in 1971.
Other than as noted (sadly) below, it is exactly as I got it.
Marked on the inside with various ink stamps including 1907 dated one, and a stamped in the leather marking with what looks like B.J.A. XVII f
Chinstrap looks like an old replacement, as the condition of the leather does not match the rest of the helmet.
When I got this helmet, both chin strap lug rosettes were painted white in the circular grooves. Somewhere I saw another similar WW1 German helmet (I knew NOTHING about these back then, and very little now) that had one of the rings in the rosettes painted red, and to my stupid and uninformed 14 year old mind, I somehow came up with the notion that this was correct. So I, unintentional young Bubba that I was, stupidly painted the ring groove on the left rosette red.
Anyhow, it displays well and is in a lot better condition than some of these type helmets I've seen that are rotted, stitching coming apart, otherwise damaged or missing parts, or shrunken and/or misshapen.
Price is $500 + shipping. (SOLD)
For any communication regarding it, please contact me directly by EMAIL at vonweigert(at)earthlink.net
I'm selling it to raise funds for the dog and wolfdog rescue we run, so I am not interested in any trades and price is firm.
USPS Postal Money Orders work best for me, but other money order or personal check are fine too.
I AM NOT able to accept any kind of electronic or on-line payments like PayPal or Venmo.
I have no control over it once delivered to the post office for shipping, so in accordance with standard contract law, possession/ownership transfers to the buyer when it has been delivered and accepted for shipping to the post office, and risk of loss/damage passes accordingly too.
