Hi Arran: We have had this issue in the past...I believe that the problem lies with the recipient not clearing out their PM inbox on a regular basis. I don't believe that there is anything we can do but I will ask tech support.

Philippe: Convex chinscales on M91 posts, cruciform spike support, no visible Regimental markings. The wappen had screw posts. This helmet was a small size, made of heavier gauge leather and a darker interior than yours. The liner may have been treated with a preservative at some time

I am going to try and repost my original pictures here. This was an excellent original photo which produced good discussion. The lady in question is obviously operating some sort of "press machine". It does look like a stack of visor trim to her left and Prussian wappen on the right.

Yes having paid/worked to raise four myself, I can testify that hat stands and even hauben are much cheaper! However, those smiles and the love you get from well brought up kids is more than worth it.

With the owner's permission, I have lightly cleaned the wappen. I wanted to take off about 60 years of tarnish but not make it look "brand new". No other proof marks on the piece. I wondered as well if 938 meant solid silver. In my world nothing plated is ever marked with a hallmark like this is. My two WW1 German patriotic rings are both stamped as well.

Thanks Sandy....yes very small along the rim of the reverse side A. Werner Sohne Berlin. This one is definitely silver plated but tarnished. The profile of Bismark is very well done, almost 3 dimensional. The piece is also stamped 938 on the rim to the left of his shoulder board.

Colour does look good in those pics and I do not remember ever seeing a brown Adrian. Is this what designates Foreign Legion? I do not really know much about these helmets.
