Body armour looks ok. (sappenpanzer) , it has been reproduced , but i don't thing this is one of them,

Check the inside of the Brow plate (stirnpanzer) for maker marks... also tap it with something metal , it should have a ring , opposed to a dull thud.

The Silk is proving difficult to find, though i have seen some old wedding dresses (on the bay) that are used by doll collectors, might be worth investing in one of these ...?

Hi, I plan on making a couple of officers liners ... just cant seem to find decent replacements. The leather is Goat skin ? How do i get the "Cookie Cut" fringe effect on the edge , a special tool ? (hope that that makes sense) The Silk is often called ribbed silk or Moire ... with a little bamboo/w...

One developed the "White powder" effect ... And it wasn't new when i put it away ..

It has the cut out crown.... just not very visible in the pictures.

Being sold as a mans, but may be an early officers, pre silk liners.

Hi,

A new arrival..

I believe it may be a enlisted mans with upgraded Eagle / Badge ? (Was sold as a Senior NCO, and priced accordingly)

The badge is going to be restored (has traces of enamel) + some minor repairs to the helmet. I put in the officer liner in temporarily to see it it fitted.

It is Dutch.... Its the NAD - 'Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst' (Dutch labour service) , similar to the German RAD The Crossed ears of Corn are the give away. i can't remember off the top of my head exactly which branch, as some of the trims vary. I think that is an 1840-1850's Tropical pattern .... used until the early 20th century

I'm guessing the HMS Europa 1897 - 1920

Look inside the cap, sometimes has a clue to its age, eg : maker or crown type.
