Re: New project M-15 Garde Infantry.

The helmet cleaned up well and I was able to find the parts needed for repair. It looks good with my M1915’s. Thanks to everyone for the positive encouragement.

M-15 Garde Star needed

Hello everyone. I’m looking for a Garde Star for an M-15 helmet, and a front visor trim for my new project. Please let me know if you have a spare you might sell.

Henry

Excellent progress. Here is mine after derusting with ultra-fine abrasive paper and polishing, as described above. It was as least as badly rusted as yours.

Re: My first Lobstertail

First, thank you all for your help and support. I removed the surface rust with oil & fine steel wool. Then used my Dremel tool and the red polish along with Soft cloths & simichrome polish. There is still some dark patina, that would probably polish out, but I decided to leave it for now considerin...

My first Lobstertail

I have felt like a kid waiting for Christmas all week waiting for this to arrive and it is finally here. The first in my small collection. It is marked Lachmann 15 and Lachmann Berlin 16. It has a lot of surface rust to clean off, but I am not sure how much polishing I should do. What are your opini...

My first Taschako

On Tuesday my wife wanted to go for a drive, so we headed off on a two hour drive to some antique shops we like to check out a couple of times a year. I was not expecting to finds 1916 taschako. Re: Imperial equipment markings

After more reading this morning, I may have found my answer. Several web pages list the "K" mark as a military acceptance mark for the Gewehr Prüfungskommission Spandau. I have found photos of Fernglas 08 from several manufactures with the same mark. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks,
Henry

Imperial equipment markings

Does anyone have information on unit markings? I recently pick up a pair of E. Leitz-Wetzlar Fernglas 08 with case that are marked with a "K" on the bridge.
Any assistance is appreciated.

The VIII corps was in Coblenz, so I wonder if it ended up as one of the 85,000 sent back for war bonds drives?

Thank you Joe. This information is great and very helpful. It's like finding out who once owned or wore the helmet. So if I follow thing correctly, the helment was turned in, checked or repaired and found serviceable in 1918. It belonged to the 68th Inf Reg. I will have to check my other helmet for ...
