Here's the bio I got with the helmet: Flügeladjutant von Fürst zu Meiningen Hans Schäfer. Hans Schaefer joined the Royal Prussian Army on February 28, 1912, as a flag-junker. The son of a senior government and building councilor, he joined the 1st Silesian Grenadier Regiment "King Frederick Wi...

Re: Restoration Busbies/Pelzmützen
Is that a Russian busby or German Sergei? I don't see the usual bamboo/cane interior structure that we find in the German ones. That is a project that is beyond my skills and I look forward to see more photos as you restore this piece. Merry Christmas from Canada! :thumb up: it looks like a German ...

I had no idea that anything that looked that realistic ever came out of India! You can usually spot the Indian crap a mile away. They are getting better. John :o :o :o yes agree quite a decent copy. But she still has drawbacks, unless, of course, you put the original parts on the helmet, then you c...

Re: Lobster tail, real or repro?
This is a fake here and there is nothing to discuss We usually refer to a fake as a copy. Here we rather have a mixture of parts put together and repainted, and some quite possibly original, like the shell. Therefore, there is plenty to discuss to help less informed collectors who, unfortunately, h...

My hypotesis about the M1915 eagle is based on the fact that neusilber will never be attacked by rust as the eagle pictured. If you look at the superior edges of the wings the are not smooth but rough because of some kind of rust aggression. I am 95% sure that eagle posted is magnetic. no it’s not m...
