Re: STRANGE LOOKING BAYERN PICKELHAUBE

I was thinking it might be police, but I'm not very well up on the police helmets other than the Berlin & Prussian. Thanks.

STRANGE LOOKING BAYERN PICKELHAUBE

Here's a rather odd looking helmet that I can't really place. Anybody know exactly what this is?

Re: fake ??

Does the Wappen look a bit 'odd'? Something about the tone of the brass showing through? The stamping looks good, but the brass seems to me a little off. I've seen a Baden Wappen recently on a 100% genuine helmet, a fake Wappen but old, must have been fitted years ago, so it seemed genuine at a glan...

Re: PICKELHAUBE SURPRISE!

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll get better photos when I have the camera back! Yes, a nice item. Chinstrap seems genuine. Inkstamped for B.A. X but can't make out the date. Thanks again.

PICKELHAUBE SURPRISE!

I got a very nice surprise recently, having purchased what looked like a normal pickelhaube at a resonable price. Only $150 and in pretty good condition, though nothing special about it, but I said 'oh to hell with it, I'll get it', since it wasn't expensive. Imagine my surprise when it turned out t...

Re: FILZHELM WITH METAL REINFORCEING BAND

Thanks for that. The bandon mine is EXACTLY the same as the one in your photograph. Perhaps this fact should be mentioned in articles on the Filzhelm, along with other variations, ie no visor trim or rear spine, visor trim only, spine only, ect. There are so many variations of this type of helmet th...

FILZHELM WITH METAL REINFORCEING BAND

I've come across a filzhelm with a metal reinforcing band similar to the metal linerbands found in later steel helmets, but not a liner band as it has nothing to do with the liner. The liner is stitched directly to the helmet, with this metal band, thin steel and about an inch and a quarter in width...

Re: A STRANGE PICKELHAUBE

I checked Tony's site again carefully and found it does mention it but only in passing, doesn't really make a point of it and easily missed.
