perfectly fine and nice to see. Some of these where chemically darkened to stop glare. they look blackish over time.

Joe Walter at House of Swords, quite the character and a master sword maker, his fakes are still going around today selling as good pieces, mainly civil war. Use to get his catalog in mail, call the same day and never get anything, always sold all ready. still it was fun to get them and look through...

I am also and avid hunter, and had to make a hard choice to miss a good local military show coming up to go Duck hunting instead as we always do as a family on opener.

Without getting into to many details, had a lady from South Dakota answer one of my ads, " I got one of those spiked helmets things you are looking for"

Over 12 hours away, so after a few emails back and forth, a deal was struck, both parties more then happy.

This was wired on the front of a M95 Pickelhaube shell I just picked up, obviously not for that helmet, but what is it for. I think it may be Polish? yes, there are a lot of leather trimmed fakes that came out of the UK in the 70's, and whenever you see a leather trimmed version you should use good judgement.

However, this one is no doubt the real deal, and one of the rarest pieces I have seen in awhile.

I am normally pretty good at picking good covers from bad, but this one has me going both ways. Passes Black Light test, I know this is not exact science, but part of the testing.
