Thanks for this very interesting article ! I have a FR 73 helmet with writen inside the Name of à US soldier and "Koblenz".
I think that in these 85000 helmets, there were too a stock of FAR 44 because of the number of helmets and Uberzug you can find today in USA.

Hello I would too not hésitate a second to gather the two items. It is very scarce to find so smatching Uberzug Pickelhaube. I try to collect such sets and I can confirm it is difficult to find such a smatching set. And generally prices are very very high... I will show this evening another waterloo...

You're a lucky man that can just pull a wonderful Lippe-Detmold Kokarde out of a drawer (insert jealousy emoji here), and have the correct helmet to put it on too. The forth photo sure looks like a Schirmlafette to me. The recoil mechanism looks the same. The housing cover looks the same, and the round looks to be very close to 15cm. At the end of the war, 4 guns were taken by US troops near Mars La Tour. One gun was sent to USA to be studied. I was too in thé source museum some months ago and noticed that some regimentals marking don't fit with the wappen. For instance a Jr 96 wappen on a helmet with à FAR marking...
Most of the mecklenburg helmets have a bavarian spike.

Very interesting. The 8/8 Batterie has very uncommon guns, 15 cm Kanone in Schirmlafette, a gun with an armored carriage which looks like naval gun. It can move with special truck on rail or on road with a steaming tractor. I will pu some pictures when I have time

Congratulations !

I tried too to find Wappen which fits to an helmet and that's not easy. So when the wappen is scarce, it is more difficult.

I like the writing inside, showing that this helmet was took by a US soldier.

A very nice picture. I would be interested to know if we can see helmets of JR 115/RBA18 of FAR44.
These two types of helmets are too much common currently in USA and the only explication is that they were in the famous
helmets taken in Germany for the war bonds.
