Ron, as far as I know the little buggers havent touched the hat for since I've owned it.. 20+ years. [-( [-X :D

Did you ever get an answer to the glowing cockade question in one of your previous posts to this thread? I have a Dragooner hat where just the top cocade lights up under UV.

Re: Prussian Garde-Infanterie EM Feldmütze M1910

Better late than never :D This was my very first WW1 acquisition, back then (early 1990's) I had no idea what KBAG meant [KBAG 1916]. I traded some TR stuff for it, perhaps $100 worth because it had moth holes. At the time I must have been 13 or 14 years old, not cheap! No ebay or internet back then...

Re: Armor from the Moro Insurrection

The styling isnt based on Spanish armor, in fact the only Spanish associated with it would be the word "Moro" meaning "Moor"... the shirt does have roots in Persia though. This type of armor can seen in various forms throughout the Middle East and throughout Islamic Central Asia going back to the Me...

Re: Can somebody help to identify

The wappen is mostly attached to the helmet with lugs or screws, to be able to remove it safely for cleaning, With split pins, you can only remove it so many times before the pins will break off. Ed, the metal on the officer Wappen would have been Mercury Gilded and did not require cleaning per se....

Re: Schirmmütze M1917??

I am just going assume "Oakland" is the city he was in when the tag was created. There happens to be a 2345 Waverly St. in Oakland with an old home thats been subdivided into crummy office space. Maybe thats where your hat once was... fun to speculate. During the first half of the 20th century Oakla...

Deutsches Historisches Museum - Garde helmet

I was digging around looking for info on steel helmets with painted Garde crests and stumbled into this rather gigantic version of it. Anyone know more about this particular helmet? The several examples on the net appear to have crests much smaller. http://www.dhm.de/datenbank/dhm.php?user=uml&seite...
