Thank you very much for posting this for me Brian. I plan on photographing all of my collection one day under better lighting with different angles! This is my only Jager Zu Pferde helmet. It is a M15 made by CE Juncker. It is complete and even has the large size Kockades. There is some wear / loss ...

I guess it is missing the plume, but hey, its got the chin scales, fangschnur, feldzeichen, etc....

Hey all, I know I'm REALLY late to this conversation, but this helmet is original. The body is a solid orginal felt. There looks to be holes for a Rabette but it would not have had one. German engineering is usually consistent and highly detailed so they would have probably added the holes for the R...

Oh, you might be right about the trim being brass. Then it is a model 1914.

This helmet can be somewhat restored..it would take quite a bit of work though.

The eagle would be brass then

This is a prussian enlisted man felt pickelhaube....looks like a model 1915 version since the front Visor trim is grey. Looks like you need an eagle plate for the front still.

What does the inside look like?

Hi, Pickelhauben is right that this would probably work great for felt and even leather, but this is cork. It will probably not work for a cork helmet using this method. Usually when a cork helmet is indented like yours, the cork is fractured into several small pieces making it difficult to reshape....

Re: Pickelhaube ersatz

Yes and no....it would take some "gentle" bending of the rear spine to raise the spike. But the cork is probably cracked and broken too much so it might just fall back in. Because of how rare this helmet is, I would probably just leave it as found. PS....this is an excellent helmet...my favorite type!
