What is the maker on the blade It whas often the case that blades and the handle where made by diffrent manufacurers and then factory assembled therefor they had to give it a extra exeptance stamp witch is the case with your bayonet I once found a page on the net that had a hole list of diffrend man...

If the materials as wel of the sewingthread they used on this cap thus not light up under uv light i would not worry However i whas told when your first feeling tels you its not good you have to decide for your yourself if you can live with the doubts you now have on the kratchen Guess you will find...

I would leave it as is messing with those splitpins is always a risk you do not know if the pins would loosen as wanted or if they break
And even if you get lucky bending them back, squeese thight as it was ,you wil not sucseed in this

I have to stay with my first observation then, in my eyes it has never been a schirmutze but regarding to the stiffener it was mearly a little hunch for it i guess

I know its not always the case but in a chirmutze you often find a little metal stifner to give a schirmutze its high form is there in your case any sign of sutch a metal stifner being sewn in between
