Brian,

PRL, Prince Regent Luitpold cypher used from 1899 until the ascension of Ludwig III then changed to the "L" cypher in 1914.

Excellent find, now you need a Bavarian fahnetrager ringkragen to go with it!

Re: Ulan Regt. 1,2,3 Officer Tschapka

Hi Rodney, Thanks for posting the photo. It's a bit of a quandary though, it appears to be, in my humble opinion, a gothic "I", (unless the cypher was broken at some point). I've checked the ranglists I have, and no officer, more specifically a "Freiherr" with that initial listed in UR 1,2 or 3. One...

Hi Rodney, I've switched to Picorator since the Photobucket debacle. (Take a look at Site Information: How to Post Photographs). Photobucket essentially wiped out all the photos on the site posted by people using their service. If you have a photo of the cypher in the correct position it would help ...

Most of the artillery tunics I have seen have red piping. If I can find better reference I will post for you.

Beautiful helmet! My guess that the gothic letter in the liner is a "N" As with Steve's helmet, (based on the silhouette in the liner), it looks like it may have been the same type of crown. That would make it perhaps a Fürst (Prince), or possibly Herzog (Duke). Here is a photo of a liner on one of ...
