Re: ULAN helmet

No that front visor was never hammered flat .
Looks to be a replacement visor.
The small leather bucket was always cut off by post war collectors .
They had a tendancy to get in the way and the quick fix was to cut them off.

Hmmmm… I looks like you may have a parts helmet . It looks to have a uhlan eagle missing the garde star ( brass ) Brass spike . Steele 91 posts with front visor and a brass spine. They could have mixed and matched the parts in wartime but that is the wrong eagle for this picklehaube. It belongs a mo...

Is It A Wurtt ?

Hey Guys ,

I got a brass Wurt EM about 25 years ago .
It has stampings that may be a Prussian helmet not Wurttemburg.

J. R. 172 1913

AND

BAXV 1913

It is in pristine condition and has original cocardes and c/s.

Pruss or Wurtt ?

Re: EM Chinstrap With Silver Hardware

I have 2 spikes in the parts box were the silver has worn through showing the brass underneath .

I have also sold a Wurt Off were the wappen's brass was starting to show through.

Apparently nickel plating of brass for helmet hardware was done quite often.

EM Chinstrap With Silver Hardware

Hey guys,

I have a couple of EM Pioneers and both have original chinstraps .
One with silver buckles and hangers , the other with silver buckles and brass hangers .

Was a mix in the materials common practice or was this a war time ersatz situation ?

Actually there is a way to fix this helmet along with felt helmets as well. But you need to remember it took over 100 years for the helmet to get into this shape . It will take time to get it back , maybe not 100 years but it will take time . Here are the parts you need to fix this helm. 1. 3 x Coff...

You should block it back to shape and let it set .
