No but it is original and matches the front bill perfectly I looked for one over 10 years until I found one to complete the helmet. I have seen many in those years mainly off of fireman's helmets. They were usually black or had tale tell marks from the comb . This one does not and fist perfectly and...

I am the seller.
It was the first Off helmet that I purchased
I did not take it apart to see the mysteries behind the parts.
I was afraid to do so because I thought it would come apart.
I described it as I saw it and started the price at $150 hoping to get at least that out or it.

Yes I made the leather shell for him.

You may be able to glue a strip of leather to reinforce the front edge or cut off a little off the ends of the trim in order to save the visor.
I am sure you have thought of this.

I had to cut the ends off of my Grenadire arty visor trim to get it to work because of shrinkage .

I have the German Wurt book and all silver military helms have brass/gilted scales.
Of course fire and police have the silver.
Perhaps a post war and on.
I would say fix what you have .
Gilted scales can de had for around $250 if he wants to go in that direction he can do so as his time allows.
