Re: Garde M16 Helmet Surprise

Steve, I’m with you, I think only the one regiment wore them. Most of the ones I’ve seen have the company number on them. Also, if they were worn by an entire division, I would think they would be more common than they are. In my 50 years of collecting I have pulled many, many M16s out of attics, b...

Hey Pickelhauben, this is the real deal. This is probably the rarest prussian helmet ever made. Absolutely an amazing find !
OK But the trim threw me off.

I do not want to throw a monkey wrench in the works but, I have seen several felt spikes with the leather trim around them.

Fakes !! Wouldn't this be counted in that number ?

Thanks for the update . I would have tried brake cleaning fluid . But it would have been scary to use. I have tried it before on a clear canopy for a R/C model air plane. Some one had taped the canopy in place and it worked getting the gum off from the tape. It did not hurt the clear plastic but tha...

I would say normally the M-95 brass would be about $100-$150 more than the grey metal M-15 .

The m-15 grey metal is probably the most abundant pickelhaube out there.
