Wow a nice set up. My husband Rod is thinking of that for a bunker which is to be part of the 100 ft shed. He already has four big sheds to house his guns and tanks, one bunker to house the helmets and uniform and small gears. And a tiny house to house me. Such is life Tanks !!!!!!!! Please tell mo...

This Aint No Popeye Tug Boat

I was commissioned to do this project by a local boat yard. It is my fist attempt at doing a water born vessel. It took me between 90-100 days to complete . The first pic is of the actual boat. I was able to go on it while it was under construction. Then It went to work. I needed 3 more trips to get...

Yes I made the leather shell for him.

I finally mastered the technique after many trails and errors.

That was before you could get one every other week on ebay !

I also made the visor trims and rear spines back then .

Now it is not nesissary to do that as well.

I have a EM wartime shako with gray eagle( minty inside and out unworn) and when I received it , it had this finish .
I hit it with windex and wiped it down with paper towels and it went away.
Probably should have kept it as is.

Re: Restoration?

You may be able to glue a strip of leather to reinforce the front edge or cut off a little off the ends of the trim in order to save the visor.
I am sure you have thought of this.

I had to cut the ends off of my Grenadire arty visor trim to get it to work because of shrinkage .

I have the German Wurt book and all silver military helms have brass/gilted scales.
Of course fire and police have the silver.
Perhaps a post war and on.
I would say fix what you have .
Gilted scales can de had for around $250 if he wants to go in that direction he can do so as his time allows.

In Randy T's book he has a printed flyer that was given out showing spikes and an garde uhlan without the star.
They had hundreds of them.
You see more m-15 without the star than with.
