I agree with Sandy, the star lacks a lot of detailing which should be on an original.
The helmet might be original, but looks to be made to look like an Oldenburg one.
I'd pass on it too.

What I found in one of my reference books, is that 3FdaR stands for Feldartillerie-Regiment General-Feldzuegmeister (1.Brandenburgiches) Nr.3 They had, at the start of the war on 02-08.1914 2 Feldartillerie Abteilungen, 1 and 2. Thanks Bob, it display's really well. Everything on the Tschapka is in good order, the helmet itself has no issues. So no deformations of the piece itself. Only the liner is missing, but like you said, you would only know if you picked it up and looked inside. I guess I had a good deal on it, paid 7...

Thanks guy's for the reply's! Yes John, the spike is taller than it should be, and Steve, I don't know about regulations, but most officer helmets do not have a spike that tall. Well, I just looked at the Prussian helmet, but I wouldn't buy it for 400. I would buy it for spares, but not for that money. I checked the plate out. I’m still not sure yet, but I believe it’s original, I could be wrong but that’s just my opinion. It’s also named. I agree with all above. Cancel the sale, as said, the fittings should be gray, not polished or chromed. It might be an original piece, as the shell looks correct and is named, but the polishing/chroming make its value go down a lot. If, as you said the seller agrees with cancelling I would do that, ...
