Re: Need help with Dragoner Garde pickelhaube
The main thing which strikes me about these photos is that the helmets seem way too small for the men’s heads. I know these were hand-me-downs, but, even so... The Helmet size looks ok for me. If I remember right, the Side-Edge of the Helmet should be 3cm above the Ear and the Frontvisor-Trimm shou...

Hi Brian! I think the name is Tünemann, with a T. Those German letters always were a bit of a bother, especially in the past, but also to a certain extend in the present. Doing things differently, that's what Germans like :D I've said it before, I'm saying it now, and I will undoubtedly say it agai...

I‘m sorry but I have to object..., if the feathers would stand for the Prince of Wales it would have a banner with his slogan „ICH DIEN“ below the crown. Important for the coat of arms of european Monarchies is the ranking crowns (coronets). The design of a coronet shows the rank of its owner, as in...

I found an Eaupeulette in „Die Deutsche Infanterie“ Band 1 (Page 386), it has a white Background, a red cloth underlay, a golden 9 (as Number) and a golden Edge. Unfortunately I donˋt know if the one of 1866 was looking identical.

yes and no, the Semper Talis bandeau went into effect via AKO in 1889, so if helmet was before then.. James I think that we might have figured this out. The Semper Talis bandeaux went into effect in 1889. The Prussian Kokarde is on the left side of the helmet and the Pickelhaube shown has two Kokar...

I would tend to Nr. 1 Garde-Regiment zu Fuss, because Plate, Guard-Star, Spike, Spikebase, Trim, Rosette/Post and flat ChinScale are all in silver. Or is the any part in brass? That would change something... Unfortunately I can‘t identify it definitely on my screen, but it seems to be all silver for...
