Yes, a few interesting things but the prices are a bit silly, IMHO. Many seem to have suffered storage damage...

A very neat ersatz helmet with interesting features

Dear All, Here is a vert neat little fitz helmet with a few interesting features: - first, double-pressed felt pads on each side of the chinstrap lugs. Both stitched at the time of manufacture; - secondly, some rather unusual methods of fixing the front plate. The holes are, like most felt ersatz, c...

Re: Prussian Pioneer Ersatz Felt Helme

Thank you Alan for the photos (which are actually fine) and the explanation. Interesting to see how the leather backing is so off-centre from the highest point, where it meets with the split-pin. Also interesting to see that the inner metal support spike is of the normal type - ie. with a hole, not ...

Yes, Alan. I would love to see that helmet. Does it have the same plain spike support plate ?

Very nice indeed.

One of mine (dragon) with the red plume in place. The plume for your Gendarme à Cheval should be blue, white and red, like the French flag !!

Hi All, I thought I would jump into that rather old post from Brian about his interesting felt ersatz with an unusual fitz rear spin. I have identified another one, this time going for sale next week in the UK. https://bid.candtauctions.co.uk/m/lot-details/index/catalog/57/lot/18728?url=%2Fm%2Fview-...

A nice set for a French lieutenant-colonel

Dear All

Just came across this and could not resist the temptation of buying it [-o<

A set for a French lieutenant-colonel of the French infantry around 1880.

Not so much my period of collecting, but both condition and rarity won me over.

Dear All

Nice topic those Adrian helmets.

I have a few. This one is one of the 300,000 first helmets made by Japy, a Parisian firm. Probably never issued.

What a sad, terribly sad news. Karel was such a lovely man, very knowledgeable and so very helpful. I had a number of email exchnages with him in the past and enjoyed dealing with him. My sincere condolences to his wife, family and all his friends. He will be greatly missed here, on Pickelhaubes.com...

Helmet for a Wurtt. Officer of Feld Art. Reg.13

Hi All, A fairly recent acquisition which came as a complete set directly from Stuttgart. The body is made of vulkanfiber, hence the very well-preserved condition of the helmet. No sign of tweaking, modification or anything so I can confidently say that it is coming to me pretty much in the state it...

Interesting. Like Steve, I do not collect for the money but I collect for the interest and the fun of hunting for that illusive piece missing in the collection. Even though making a profit is rarely a motive in our decisions to buy, we are yet very careful to spend our money wisely. The evidence of ...

Fbc...A question concerning the interior pics of this unusual helmet: Is the interior lined in black felt?
