Re: Bavarian Police Pickelhaube
This article is about the Prussian Gendarmerie but refers to the Bavarian one. Doing quick internet research I see that normally Gendarmeries are part of the Army working on police duties in many countries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Prussian_State_Gendarmerie And just found this excellent ...

CLOVIS, This is what the label says: Michael Wegenmann Stations Kommandant Station: Wörishofen Brigade: Mindelheim Kopf***ß: 55 1/2 c/m (Head Size) So the owner was a Station Kommandant. Did the Gendarmerie have a similar structures to the police? What is the difference between Gendarmerie and Polic...

Re: First Donation 2021
Thanks for that Brian. I host a simple Airborne Gunners page but only had to pay for my website making software and for annual domain fees (and domain name) so I don't mind doing that. I completely understand and agree that you should not have to pay the fees for this site, which are obviously a lot...

Just a thought Brian. Why not charge a membership fee?
Also - if donation is the way to go how about a suggested donation amount based on average number of members and actual costs? I'll be happy to contribute but have no idea how much?

Clovis,
Are you referring to John's helmet? Mine has the name and location of a Police Kommandant inside.
Interesting to learn all these differences. Great helmet John has regardless.

Re: Bavarian Police Pickelhaube
Very nice helmet. I wonder if the cruciform base was a later addition? My spike base is thin brass and almost too flexible. The support would definitely make it stronger. Is the cockade smooth brass? I have seen at least two different versions and now yours is a third.

To my novice eye it certainly has the very old look to all the parts, including the age of the leather shell. Wouldn’t that be very hard to fake? Seller claims his father had it in his collection for years and seller is 64.

I’ve also been looking around and the screw size for the spikes seem to vary from thicker to thinner. Saw a post here of trichters with varying screw sizes as well.

The wappen looks the same as this one on Tony’s site.

Could the shape issue with the skull be due to shrinkage with age?

Not having a dedicated "military" room, mine is kind of a combination games and military display room.

Re: Displaying Swords
So the sword arrived yesterday and I made up a wall hanger. Pretty happy with the hanger, but not as nice as Sandmann's. A few pictures. Asc you can see I don't really have a dedicated room for this stuff so my recroom is kind of multi-purpose.......
Thanks again for the ideas.
