Felts were issued with a thinner leather or ersatz liner. They do not hold up well after 100 years. it has been said that some felts were issued without a liner . You did good on yours and I hope you did not have to pay too much for it. It does have a repo chin strap and the price on originals are s...

The one on the right is a 1915 Enlisted Mans you can find one intact for $350-$550 If you were to buy the parts you are looking at : Gray spike ----------------------------------...

No that front visor was never hammered flat .
Looks to be a replacement visor.
The small leather bucket was always cut off by post war collectors .
They had a tendancy to get in the way and the quick fix was to cut them off.

Hey Guys ,

I got a brass Wurt EM about 25 years ago .
It has stampings that may be a Prussian helmet not Wurttemburg.

J. R. 172 1913

AND

BAXV 1913

It is in pristine condition and has original cocardes and c/s.

Pruss or Wurtt ?

I have also sold a Wurt Off were the wappen's brass was starting to show through.

Apparently nickel plating of brass for helmet hardware was done quite often.

Hey guys,

I have a couple of EM Pioneers and both have original chinstraps .

Was a mix in the materials common practice or was this a war time ersatz situation ?
