M15s are often more "anonymous"; not to mention the numerous war bond helmets that have seen little if any action, hence are often in good condition but of lesser historic significance. Unlike the officers , where a lot of times the battle honors are added to the eagle . I can't tell about the "Waterloo " battle honor around the neck . Is it made with the eagle also...

Westfront and Philippe are of course correct: a typical bavarian stamp.
However, I always thought that BD on these stamps stood for "Bayerische Division".
I may be wrong...

This cannot be a 1. Garde Regiment (1GRzF) helmet, which had all silver trim. Your helmet used to have a golden colour eagle, matching the spike and spine. It may have been 2., 3., or 4. Then comes Philippe. He was able to spot the "Verlustlisten" of GR89, 5. Kompagnie. We do find Grenadier Franz Gaede II, from Herzwolde, Neustrelitz, who was killed in action in Carlepont (Oise, North East of Paris) in December 1914.

Looks like the forum is asleep... This is an interesting spiked helmet. The regimental marking is not easy to make out though, but I hope you can recognize R.89. Yes.....things were a lot cheaper prior to the 1970's! Mr Hartmann was in the US army, stationed in Germany at and after the end of WWII. I was told he collected many of his helmets then. This helmet is marked 92.R 1906 and on the other side R.J.R.78 II B (not easy to photograph but doubtless). The maker is Hermann Clemen. Absolutely! All matching and apparently untouched. An excellent helmet. Only needs cockades (not too difficult to find) and a chinstrap (more challenging).

Well, I hate disappointing you but the eagle is for an officer helmet, spike base attachments are wrong, the front visor rim is iron, coming from an M15 model, and the spine is at least broken, and possibly missing. Looks like a put-together helmet... sorry.
