Re: Dragoner Restoration

I stand by my original assessment. The spike base is completely typical Bavarian and I think the screw posts on the back of the plate have been applied to correspond with the original Bavarian 3-hole configuration (the spacing as it is now makes no sense for this plate). Question- is the top screw p...

Re: Dragoner Restoration

This started out life as a Bavarian helmet, imo. The lack of the forward star and the 3-hole pattern on the front are uniquely Bavarian characteristics. The front arm sometimes had split prongs soldered to affix it, which is why there is a hole where there's no star stud. Can we see the underside of...

It IS a typical officer's helmet, albeit an early one. Prior to about 1880, this multi-tongued square ended all leather liner was the norm. The star is a copy, however. They are currently available out of Poland and can be recognized by the missing set of laurel leaves (should be three pairs and a s...

Re: New argentine helmet general of the army

Interesting helmet, but I think it may be a put-together as its not in the correct configuration for an Argentine General, which should have a squared front visor or the "half-squared" style as sometimes seen on Saxon General's helmets. Also, the quality seems a little off for a General's haube, whi...

I would skip these types of helmets unless it has the proper regt stamps. They are too easy to upgrade from a regular line infantry helmet. I agree. With these scarcer EM helmets, the markings just have to support the plate. That said, this appears to be a private-purchase helmet (judging from the ...
