More Prussian Standard Bearers
I went to a Show today and picked these up. I understand the smaller of the 2 is the typical Infantry Flag Bearer's sleeve patch. The other larger piece with red flags is a bit of a mystery and I would really appreciate some information on it. The pictures

Re: More Prussian Standard Bearers
Hi Brian,
I was thinking that the smaller size "shield" shape may have been trimmed down in size. It's my understanding that the shape of the larger size one with Red Standartes is the size/shape they are supposed to be in original configuration.
They're both very attractive and rare to find. Congratulations on acquiring them!
Best Regards,
Alan

Nice and rare patches

Re: More Prussian Standard Bearers
Thanks to all. I am being told that the yellow flag one, is the standard Prussian sleeve patch for Infantry. The other larger red one, according to experts is not true military but probably a 1920's veterans association standard bearer's patch. The embroidery on both of these is of excellent period quality. Note also that like the first Bavarian patch, the red Prussian has a cloth backing and shows the embroidery threads on the reverse. The standard Prussian infantry has a black cloth backing, covering the embroidery.
