Hey Guys ,

What is your opinion on gray painted brass wappen ?

Was this done often or is it rare ?

Were there complete helms with gray painted brass hardware ?

Does anybody have original pieces they are willing to share ?

It was definitively done on French cavalry helmets. But you were perhaps referring exclusively to Pickelhauben.

I have a neusilber Gardist helme in my collection which shows the remains of grey paint between the rays of the Garde star. Everything else has been returned to the original silver.
