Hello,

I'll have a sale table at the upcoming Countryside, Chicago Show this coming Saturday, August 2nd.

I'm wondering if anyone here will be attending on Saturday.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Would have loved to be able to go and check out that Model 1915 Prussian Guard Infantry Pickelhaube that you are selling but have to work.

Good morning Alan,

How was the show?

Matt

Hi Matt,

The show had very good attendance on Saturday morning, and the aisles were very busy for most of the morning, with it lightening up around 11:30 a.m. Mike and Austin do a nice job running and promoting this show.

There was only one other Imperial German collector who was there, besides me, who had a sale table. He purchased a nice Imperial dunkelblau tunic from someone at the show. He's a very serious Imperial German headgear collector. I'm not sure if he's a member on here or not. He might be a member here, I'm not sure. He was the only one who knew what the helmets are that I brought to the show.

There's really not much of anything for sale at the show that's Imperial German, other than what I bring. (not including the tunic that was sold there Saturday morning.) The show was mostly a "bust" for me with my WW1 offerings, and what little I sold from those items was very discouraging. The 3rd Reich items I had purchased recently saved me and made the show for me. Flags, and 3rd reich belts and buckles sold well for me at this show. Back in the end of June, in Oklahoma City, no one seriously looked at these same flags. One never knows from show to show who will attend, and what will sell, of course.

I took some photos of the show, and I'll see if I can upload them from my phone to here.

Craig Luther had several pickelhaubes that he brought to the show to sell, from a small collection he'd purchased the first part of July. This was the first show he brought them to. Sadly, he didn't sell any of them. There are just not much of any Imperial German collectors that attend this show, unfortunately.

A dealer that's a regular at the show who I don't' know personally, had a cased Imperial Police officer pickelhaube for sale on his table, Saturday morning. It had an insane price of $2,300.00? on it. I saw it, and didn't recognize the wappen on it, as to what city it was from. I about fainted when I saw the price on it. I walked by the table an hour or so later, and it was gone. I presume it sold to someone for that insane price? Ot should have been an $800 or so priced helmet. I guess I must be missing something about it.

Best Wishes,

Alan

A nice ersatz fiber body helmet. Craig is asking $1,000 for this one. It has remains of a maker label inside. First time I have ever seen a maker label inside one of these fiber body helmets.

Alan,

I certainly would have been a buyer at your table! Oh wait ..I was...kind of LoL.

Love those Hansiatic crosses, some of those Haubes and that battle flag! Let's see if I have any money left over after the Max show! (Usually never 😀 )

A. Wunderlich N., Berlin
I think the “N.” stands for Nachfolger, i.e. the original “A. Wunderlich” is no longer the owner, but the name is still being used by the current owners.

Thanks very much! I can see this now that I look at the photo.

Best Wishes,

Alan

I like the helmets you have for sale Alan! Especially that Saxon M95 enlisted haube!
Did you sell it in the show, or is it still available?

I like that one, and am looking for one to add to my collection.

Regards, Coert.

Hi Coert,

Thanks for asking about the M95 Saxon. I still have it. It's "B.A. XIX 12" issue marked to the 107th Regiment, 3rd Battalion. 1912 dated, and maker marked. Size "53". It's a beauty, from my collection, but I will sell it for the right price.

No one was interested in buying Imperial headgear at the show, other than the person who purchased the highly overpriced police officer helmet with the storage case.

Best Wishes,

Alan
