I have a nice Bavarian front plate and would like to perhaps buy a helmet for it. I am a novice, so would a front plate-less helmet be satisfactory, or is a Bavarian helmet a specific type? What would I need to ask/look for to get a proper helmet? I just want it for display purposes, so nothing...

Thank you for the replies. The helmet is heavily marked inside to a Baden unit, etc. Finding another is, of course, the hard part. I will take your advice to heart and keep looking and as a last resort, move the loop. Thank you for the good advice.

I finally found a Baden frontplate. I knew the fastener loops wouldn't fit, but as hard as these Baden ones are to find, I got it anyway. My question is what is the easiest "good" way to get this to fit my helmet? Is it acceptable to move the loop and re-solder it on? Is there someone on the...

There is one on Helmut W's site, but it has the star and quite expensive. Here's hoping, though. Looking for one gives me a good excuse to go to all the militaria shows, too. :) Dave

I am needing a Tschapka eagle in brass to complete an Uhlan helmet. I have the silver guard star, but the eagle I need is the smaller type and with the more upswept wing that fits an Uhlan. Any help in selling me one or knowing where one is for sale would be much appreciated. Dave

That is a brass front plate and silver star, right? How do I know if I look for a certain regiment, like his says number 2. Is there a 3, 4, 1? Does it matter?
