I’m looking for information on Vzfw Karl/Carl Gregor, WW1pilot with jasta 29. I know he had left leg amputated at the knee. Still continued flying dispite his handicap! I would like to know his post war history and his date of death if possible!
Steve; Could you also give me the German dealer with the shoulder straps? I’m interested in the 23rd,24th Dragoon straps as well as the 25th artillery straps, if they still might be available! Cheers. Dick
Tony; Nice to hear from you! On pg 207 of The German Artillery by Herr and Nguyen they show an officers helmet with 2 studs on the rear spine and say it was for the version worn after 1897. The ones shown do not have the rear spine studs, so are they pre 1897? Cheers. Dick
While we are on Hessian artillery, can anybody explain why some helmets have 2 domes on the rear spine while some do not? Does it have anything to do with pre-war vs wartime?
Amy; Great helmet! I have a question about the ball top. It appears to be oval and not round, is this because it is an officers helmet? Can I assume EM helmets would have round ball tops? Are you leaving any artillery helmets for the rest of us?
