chinscales seem to be brass but the side cockade like pin is silver finished like the front shield

Well it’s here. Looks like some real and some fake or later parts. It’s marked 1855 and a name or unit.I can’t pinpoint the cockade though. Just Cool stuff. Not to start looking for parts lol Thoughts?

yes, you can tell it was changed. there were a couple holes there along with the side holes. you can tell what it was before it was changed, the chin strap is what confuses me. do you think its off an 1845?

i think this is an 1868 Chevaulier that was made into a home guard helm. the lion cockades arent original I know, the chin strap is missing pieces and its missing the side brass ribs as you can see the holes for them. any other input is appreciated. Im quite happy with it regardless but id...

He is a very hard to work with gent and currently has a fake iron cross on eBay for 499 right now. I paid much much less than that price lol. When I first told him my offer he told me he was insulted lol. I hope I didn’t get shafted but I barely paid 4 figures for helm and case.
