100 Years ago today the German 10.Army was defeated at the Battle of Vileyka (now in Belarus) it was the furthest east the Germans had advanced in the Great War.

I'm currently writing on the little know battle of Lake Naroch in the spring of 1916. I jave just completed a short book on the even less known battle of Vileyka 100 years ago this month which marked the end of the Russian 'Great Retreat' and pushed the German Army back into defensive positions...
