Garde Du Corps NCO tunic

Thank you! Of course the buttons will be needed as well but those shouldn't be to hard to track down the boards I may have to spend alot of time and undoubtedly alot of money finding and acquiring. I'll also eventually need to find a medal bar to fit the loops there are 3 present so this man at one point must have had a few medals to display although I'm not totally sure what they would be on a uniform of this date. Likely a centennial medal at least and paste that I'm unsure, I'll have to do some more research. Aside from this uniform I am also looking at getting a nice 25th dragoons coat if I can ever get it for the right price, I may post that preemptively here later.

Nice ebay score. Thought about it myself, but coming from Turkey, I was a little concerned, especially with such a low price.

A "Waffen Nummer" appears sometimes, albeit rarely, on name tags. It is apparently restricted to cavalry units. It should be a nomenclature for the different effects and weapons received by the soldier at the depot, referring to the same collection. I have a Prussian cuirass with a name tag and Waffen #.
Waffen is also what came to my mind when I saw "W" on the name tag pictured above.

Another example, cavalry :giggle:

And here in the back plate of a Prussian cuirass (I wanted to show the whole thing but the file was too big; I had to crop).
1 Esk. Waff. Nr 98. The regiment # is not indicated.

Did we say that the Waffenrock is private purchase ? If so the silver buttons
for the straps do NOT have to have numbers .

The uniform is in and I've noticed something interesting that wasn't in the sellers photos, it appears as though the original boards were just cut out of the uniform they were cut off and the ends are still in the shoulders, also it would appear as though at one point there was a button sewn to the shoulder for a marksman lanyard.

Unless that thread is holding the sleeve to the rest of the waffenrock you should remove it. It's going to tear the wool. Perhaps it was placed there to display the tunic.
Thats what I'm thinking its for, it keeps the cuff facing out so you can see them better.

Money is not the issue. You might never find a correct pair of shoulder straps no matter how much you are willing to spend. Very scarce Waffenrock, but without straps...
Oh I'm very well aware, I've already started scouring the internet even weitze doesn't have any listed and I don't think I've seen a loose set in anyone's collection.

Often it’s impossible to find a single of any unit, and a pair can be impossible. I once bought a Feldgrau M10 UR10 Ulanka missing the shoulder straps and wasted 15 years of my life trying to find the straps, gave up in disgust and sold it. Expensive lesson that I never forgot. Who knows though, you might get lucky. I am always (like always) looking for shoulder straps I am missing, so I will keep my eyes open for you.

I do appreciate it, I know you hold one of the premier imperial shoulder board collections. I have a few uniforms that are missing boards and I know all to well how much of a challenge it can be. If you do happen to come across a set I will eternally be in your debt.

I hope you manage to find the shoulder straps! I have been in the same position. I have just posted a photo in the period photographs section showing this type of tunic being worn.
