I attended the Toronto Show this morning and took some photos:
Wurtt. Fire Officer helmet.
A forum member's display, not for sale.
More of his display.
The GdK is a fibreglass copy.
A closer look at the M42 on display. Bandeau had been soldered on.
Leather kokarde.
A rare tropical pickelhaube.
More from the Show:
The show was well attended. This is only the second post covid military show, lots of people still wearing masks.
Part of the display.
Yes Charles, they are very nice. Hans the owner actually told me he is more into the uberzugs than the helmets themselves. James... that is the first time I have seen the M 42 displayed. He did not have it on the table 3 years ago.
If legit that is a rare one !
But I think to be correct it should be the older style with stepped front visor .
They were used for a very short time.
Unless memory fails me.
Guys...there never was a Wurttemberg Kurassier regiment. Complete con job... If I saw a vendor trying to sell that crap for any thing more that the price of the shell I would admonish him for trying to rip people off. I wouldn't trust a thing he was peddling.
John ;
You are pretty much correct IMO
There were some rare and correct Stab Ordance helmets
but they were on J z P tpye bodies .I have seen a Baden one
Not sure who else had them
but not a Kurassiere body
Steve
I have the Wurtt book on helmets.
I am pretty sure they have one in there but it has been years since I have opened it.
And I do remember Randy T. Saying that they used them ( the state of Wurttemberg ) for a short period of time so they are rare.
Here we go
They do not have a Kurassier or JzP. In 1902-1904 the Wurttemberg state had a Meldereiter unit that had a wurttemburg front and looked like a JzP. It is very rare and had a large tombak Wurttemberg frontplate.
I would say approximately 70 vendors including at least two from Quebec. I felt sorry for the guy who was selling Soviet stuff. That table was completely ignored. Justifiably so!
No I did not and I commented on it to Hans when I was talking to him at the show. It is such a rare beast but I know you have one/two Steve. I should have asked him to let me take close ups and I will for the next Toronto Show, which will be in the Fall. Every time I talk to him at a show, he tells me he is a member and should post photos but.... There are many collector/members here who have no wish to advertise their collections and I respect that. I have been lucky enough to work on some of their helmets, that is good enough. Any photos taken at the Show were done so only after asking for permission. I hand out my card, and explain my purpose. Most dealers have no problem and I also do this at the SOS. I never just walk around taking photos unless it is an overall shot of the hall.
