Dear All Just received this 1915 rather moth eaten Prussian ORs helmet it has makers mark inside and is size 53
It is named and has B J A V1 1 on the back peak. The stitching is still in good sound condition the only fault is the tatty liner.
And its not easy getting parts for 1915 easy if you have a brass finish 1895.
Should I leave the liner as it is?

I have never seen a Korps marking with a J in it before. As to the liner, I would leave it as is. To replace it, both visors have to come off and new repro/original liner has to be stitched round the shell. Stitching a new original liner to the shell is very difficult as you are dealing with 100+ year old leather...it rips. If you go for a new liner, then you have to buy the proper leather, cut out a liner using a template etc. All of this to fix a Prussian M15, the most common collector helmet.

Hi,
B.J.A. VI. f means Bekleidungs-Instandsetzungs-Amt (repair shop) of the 6th Army Corps, „f“ for suitable for field use. The “J” was often used instead of “I” to avoid confusion with the number “1”.
Regards,
Lars

Thank you both for the advice and education. Was the 6th army predominately Bavarian regiments. so it would needs a Bavarian wappen.
Not Prussian.
