IR 92 Bat. I & II

Great!

I think I remember this helmet, if I‘m not mistaken.

Ed, sometimes I wish there are more new posts with Pickelhauben on Pickelhaubes. Thank you for granting my wish with a great example! Congratulations.

You’re welcome Bruno , it is with a wink to Larcade’s books .:)

Great!

I think I remember this helmet, if I‘m not mistaken.

This helmet is in the top ten of my favorites.

It is indeed the same as in your link , but … everything about this helmet is original and that includes the wappen.

It does have some of the gilding left in the corners on the lower part. Just like the spike has only a verry small amount of gilding left in the corners of the pearl ring.

There was never any other eagle on this helmet , the single holes in the helmet , the mark that the washers made , the imprint on the helmet ,no trace of any other marks, some fragments of the lacquer of the helmet stuck to the wappen , it’s all correct.

This helmet is of the same maker of the other helmet I have with the skull , with the EXACT same eagle, I never had two exact the same eagles in my collection before.

If the eagle is a copy , then everything else is a copy too.

But maybe I didn’t learn anything in my 30 years of collecting haubes.

Hallo Ed,

For our personal culture, would you be so kind to show us the regimental / BA / date markings of your 3 EM helmets?
Further, can you see some wearers names in them?

Thank you in advance!

Philippe

You are right, the auction house back in 2017 was wrong. I fully share your point of view - also after 30 years of collecting 😀.

I saw this very helmet in 2014 for the first time, when a well known dealer from Frankfurt was selling an old collection. I wanted to buy it, but had not the money.

It is! Most collectors simply cannot afford such rare helmets, even if they could be found. Sharing on this Forum for all of us to enjoy is generous and appreciated. Always your photography is stunning Ed. Same with Bruno’s. Incredible photography.

Awesome group of helmets! Congratulations Ed and thank you for posting such excellent photos. 👍
