Is this R76 or R78

I also prioritise 76. But in this case, Prussian eagle of the line, frontal, and cockade with red iron cross (Hamburg).

I agree with the 76. The eagle is important te see. The Hanseaten kokarde was, after a date which I cannot remember now, worn only by Lübeck, I have an M15 with the correct Hanseaten kokarde. IR 162. Before that date, which I cannot remember now, it was indeed worn by Hamburg, Bremen and Lübeck.

It's a bit confusing
Here's the summary table:
In a nutshell:
---Until 1891 Hanseatic roundel with red Maltese cross for the 3 towns. Small central hole (troops as officers).
---Between 1891 and 1897 still common to the three towns, but the central hole is enlarged to fit the M01 side post.
---After 1891, each city will have its own roundel with large central hole M91:
---Red iron cross for Hamburg.
---Red Maltese cross for Lübeck.
---Prussian standard roundel, white with red circle for Bremen.

Same for officers, with a small central hole 1897-1918 and a large hole for officers' models 1915.

It has the grey metal prussian heraldic eagle on the front.

Thanks guy, I agree that it's a 76 , just want to be very sure. It did not have the cockades but I have the hanseatic cockade.

Thanks guys

Yes, JR76 without any doubt.

Grabenmaxx, how are you decyphering the stamp under the "I.R.75"? Ist it "I.B.75" for the first bataillon? I own the same helmet with same markings and same date 1900,and was wondering if the stamp under the IR 75 on my helmet was a second apposition of the same stamp or a stamp for the 1B.

Here is mine, worn by the Einjährig-Freiwilliger Gefreiter Robert Reinberg. 3/JR75, who was first missed at the battle of Nampcel on the 20.9.14:

In my opinion it's 2 times exactly the same regimental marking. Maybe something was wrong with the ink the first time and they decided to get them restamped or something. But now I'm just guessing.

Those are by the way two nice Hanseatic helmets Philippe! I like them.
