Prussian Line Kurassier Enlisted Man stamped metal Ersatz helmet circa 1915. Unusual and rare one piece stamped metal "Lobstertail" metal helmet with only the spike top being and extra piece. The exterior has been painted green and has NO rust or discoloration (see photos). The frontplate is a gray Prussian Line Eagle that is held to helmet with original leather wedges.

The helmet interior is black dyed leather liner that is complete but it is dry with some tears in back (see photos). Marked inside back visor and stamped "8. J. P.". It appears that this helmet was issued to the 8th Jaeger zu Pferde regiment. Although the helmet is the wrong style it was surely hidden under a cloth field cover, Original green colored leather chinstrap. Large EM style cockades. Extremely RARE Ersatz helmet that exterior is a Kurassier helmet but is marked to a Jaeger zu Pferde regiment. This helmet is a known piece from the late WWI era. Great find!

Hi Steve,

I'm happy that you are the one who bought it, somehow that makes it less painful. I had my hand on the button for like 10 minutes, going back and forth.;)

My only question was the color of the Wappen, on the other one's I've seen it has been also painted grey. In their photo's they didn't show the attachment, and the mention of it being grey ?? Maybe in my old age I'm going colored blind.

Great piece, congratulations, I love it  (y)(y)

I too saw this helmet for sale, and later marked as sold, on AoK! It's nice knowing that this beauty is in good hands!

I also saw the helmet on Age of Kings. I'm very happy to see it here. I really love the helmet and it's something not as often seen. Congratulations on your new piece.

Congratulations Steve, it's rare and superb. A few years ago, I missed the same one for sale on a French forum, of which I am a member. Many people thought it was a children's toy. I didn't, but on this forum, it's the first one to express an intention to buy that wins.

Note that only the decorative rivets are fake and stamped. The 2 rivets securing the neck cover and the 2 securing the visor are genuine.

Congrats Steve. Well done as usual. It's a rare ersatz. These ersatz models comes all correctly with small/regular cocades.
