I got a win at a UK auction this month, at first I thought it was the one from Karel's collection (Adler)....he posted in 2009 but his was a size 56 and this one is a 58.

It was listed by the auctioneer as a Guards Officers helmet but is in fact an NCO's helmet from the training schools.
It has h1.jpgh2.jpgh3.jpgh4.jpgh5.jpgh6.jpgh7.jpgh8.jpgh9.jpgh10.jpgh11.jpgthe line eagle with guards star but the base plate for the spike had been upgraded with officer stars.....which I have replaced with the correct other ranks studs.

It is maker marked on the spike base along with original sticker inside the helmet for A. Werner and Sohne Berlins (AWES Marke). Plus what looks like the owners details written in pen. Any suggestions on what is written would be appreciated, may be an Unteroffizier.....

regards

Tony

AWES was one of the top end producers of Imperial German uniforms and decorations of the period. One would be hard pressed to find a better made and preserved Pickelhaube. Congratulations on a fine addition to your collection.
