Just got in this interesting Prussian Artillerie M1915 Ersatz Felt Pickelhaube with removable ball.
This helmet was captured by Hubert Macdonald Lake, who was a driver with the Royal Canadian Artillery and a member of the CEF, this was one of his war trophies when his estate was sold.
It has two small period slits behind the plate.
Has anyone ever seen this before?
Could this had been done for ventilation?
