MODEL 1895 PREUßEN HUSAREN NCO worn by Regt No. 3, 11, 13 and 14 PELZMÜTZE (BUSBY)
This Hussar Busby is worn by the NCO (officers) of one of the following regiments.
1. HUSSAR REGIMENT von ZIETEN No. 3
2. HUSSAR REGIMENT No. 11
3. HUSSAR REGIMENT No. 13
4. HUSSAR REGIMENT FR3EDERICK II Of HESSEN-HOMBURG No. 14
The Pelzmütze is made from black-dyed seal hair and remains in good condition. There is evidence to show that this busby is balding but still the seal hair is present. The oval chinscales bosses secured the chinscales that are correctly curved for Mounted-Troops.
The "Fatherland" Bandeau (ribbon) is in superb condition with fine pebbling and razor sharp details to the lettering, secured inside by two split brads. It carries the standard 1860 motto "MIT GOTT FÜR KOENIG UND VATERLAND" (With God For King And Fatherland). This silver Bandeau was used by few different Husaren Regiments but only 4 regiments wore silver Bandeau combined with red Kolpak.
The red Kolpak (wool bag) hangs on the left side of the Pelzmütze and is in good condition except with some small moth nips. The original NCO Fangschnur (securing cord) is correctly attached and looped with a toggle (with black and white knots). The Fedzeichen of the NCO pattern with cotton thread and black velvet inside is present and is in excellent condition. The enlisted man Reich cockade is present on the wearer’s right.
Inside is of magnificent Officers quality liner with calfskin and silk Lining. Size 56 ½.
