My only ww1 weapon in my collection so far. A project of mine is building up a stormtrooper mannequin and the appropriate rifle for them is the Gewher Kar 98 AZ. A couple of years ago, I planned on going to the SOS 2025 to try and find one of these. But lo and behold, just some months before the show, I ended find this at the KC militaria show. I got this at a fantastic price for the condition. All the parts are original to the rifle with little to no signs of alterations, including its original leather sling. As anyone who owns any German weapons, they marked any and all parts with serial numbers and approval stamps and I keep finding new areas with such markings. So here is my gun, made in 1918 by Erfurt.

Nice example. You're lucky to have found it with the sling intact.
Very surprised with it too. Absolutely amazed how it’s survived without any sort of modification from other countrys’armories or private owners. The only drawback now is that I can’t sling it on my mannequin without braking it. I’ll probably have to find one with arms and hands and have it holding it muzzle up.

Nice tough to find rifle! And the sling is a bonus.

I have an example that was converted to .22 LR in the 1920s. 2 Gew98s are well (converted to .22LR).

My advice regarding displaying on a mannequin is to have it butt down on the floor and muzzle held in the hand, as you have mentioned.
