one of my favorite helmet designs!

Belgian M1851 Kuirassier helmet.

front plate, scales and side post flaming bombs all in great shape.

long horse hair plume and also top pom pom.

shell is marked V 464 and 1851

shell is shiny and in great shape.

Liner is there but in tough shape, partially detached, I am holding it all in place with paper clips.

written inside is 2009.6.20 some kind of museum marking?

So, a very desirable pattern of helmet in great shape on the outside and will display very well, with a poor liner.

The M1843 Pattern: made in 1851.
"V" for the 1st Cuirassier Regiment.
"V*" for the 2nd Cuirassier Regiment.
Disbanded in 1863.
-These two Cuirassier Regiments became the 3rd and 4th Lancers Regiment.
-Cheaper...Lighter and smaller horses and troopers.

-I collected and bundled some interesting stuff on these fine Belgian helmets.
-translated to Dutch. The chapter on the M1843 "Lionhead" pattern to English as well.
