Arrived this week, an EM helmet from the Bavarian ILR ..with silver trim and still nicely dated 1915.
Looks nearly worn and is complete with its original thin leather string at the innerliner.
I truly love these silver Leib helmets..

I personally think it's very beautiful, and as for worn out, well, it depends on what you think of it, really. A nice addition or for.....

Beautiful helmet, Sander (y)
Here are two cousins: They are well-rounded but have real-world experience.

In Bavaria, there is no distinction between nickel-silver helmets. Unlike in other states, the Leib-Regiment’s helmets do not have a removable crest, as they do not feature a Busch. Only the markings can serve as a distinguishing feature.

Excellent example, it looks as if it just came off a supply sergeant’s shelf. Everyone who has spent a day or two in any army knows that he always holds back the great stuff in the supply room for inspections.
Thank you for the nice pictures of this will preserved Pickelhaube.
Best regards
John

What a beautiful example! You truly scored with this one! Looks like it rolled right off the assembly line.

I wasn’t aware other units other than the pioneer used silver fittings, makes me wonder if my helm isn’t pioneer and is rather infantry.

Hello Dane,
Yes, this also applies to the infantry regiments—“Grenadier,” “Leib-Infanterie,” “Garde,” etc.
Hesse 115, Saxe100, Wurt119 et 123, Bade109, Prusse 1G.R.zuF, G.F.B. BavièreLeibR etc...

Very often, the difference lies in the tip:
---fixed for the Pioneers.
---screw-in for the Leib-Grenadiers.
(except for Bavaria, which did not have Busch rifles for its infantry).
