Howdy all, I hope everyone is well!

Well something very cool came out of the woodwork today while at work, while we were cleaning out our back stock we found this very nice sword, after checking some of our reference books we came to the conclusion this was a Prussian postal protection sword as described here,

Here’s some photos of the sword in question,

There is etching on the blade as described and the eagle is pinned exactly as described.

The question I have for you all is, is this blade original? I know this particular sword is quite rare so I wish to know before I buy this one.

I would love to hear your guys opinion on this one!

All the best!

Hi Dane,

Just curious where you are working at is that an Antique store?

Also, congratulations on finding a postal official's sword with your collecting of Imperial Postal items lately it seems it was just ment for you to have.

I personally would recommend holding out for a complete set like mentioned finding a scabbard at a later date would be another project that will take forever and if completed would cost more than a complete set in the long run.

Howdy Mr. Josef!

I work at a coin and bullion store that also specializes in militaria, firearms and surplus. I love working there as awesome stuff like this comes in all the time!

Aye thank you! This is one I’m really wanting to add to my collection, postal history is some of my favorite and I have no qualms adding such a piece.

Although this one is missing the scabbard, I personally don’t mind, I was planning to hang this one anyhow with or without the scabbard.

This is one of those items I don’t search for or really would search for that just happened to come my way. I really like this one and I’m certainly gonna take my shot at it!
