Just checking to see who is still at their PC here to admire and bid on tomorrow's auction by auction Hermann Historica GmbH. The prices are low, I would say, but tax and shipping will also play a major role in placing a bid.

Commissions, exchange rate and shipping all come into play but if you really want something sometimes you just have to go for it.

I have several items in my watchlist we will see how it goes who knows with a little luck ;):)

Who got items they were aiming to win?
Unfortunately, no luck. I was interested in the Tschapka for the Officers of the 1st Garde Ulanen, as it matches my name.🙄 But that was the only helmet that became a bit more expensive….

Best wishes,

GardeUlan

The ladies cross is spectacular something on my wish list. The second one that has nothing on it is that the first design? Very fine Crosses Doug. Rob

Sadly, nothing for me but I did really enjoy watching the Auction live. I was surprised by the prices on a few things.

lucky for me I wrote down what I wanted to pay and didn't get caught up in the excitement.

Being in the USA you really have to think what the real cost will be when the smoke clears.

Additional cost to the hammer price.

29.5% Commission
16% loss for current exchange rate
10% fee for import duties from Fedex
Plus shipping.

So, you really have to add 56% to every dollar spent then add shipping.:unsure:

Even with all the additional cost if there is really something you must have its still worth it to me personally. Lucky for me there wasn't anything I had to have for my core collection.

Well, the auction is sometimes a gamble; if you take the exchange rate into account, then the auction fees plus auctioneer's fees and shipping, you end up with a high amount. Sometimes I don't understand who buys pieces that make me think, "Wow," and then sometimes pieces that no one bids on, e.g., two sabers from Württemberg for 300 euros. But anyway, I did it and bought these, they need some work; still, it was worth the effort.

If it is shipped marked with the HTC 9706.10 for antiques over 100 years old on the shipping form and commercial invoice FedEx will not charge the 10% import duty.
