    Dragoon Helmet

It threw me at first John but basically it's like chat or messaging on a phone. You start a conversation and then the person responds and you have the whole conversation string in one spot. No need for multiple messages in your inbox. You'll only know if they got it when they answer and you...

A Visit To Military Antiques Toronto

That's funny. I was there yesterday on the way back from my hernia operation in Toronto. Great place and just packed with stuff. I bought this there for my Artillery Collection. It has probably 80 + years of crud on it. The vinegar trick worked a charm as you can see. Peter

    Bayern Infantry Officer's Schirmmütze -renovation

Slightly off topic - but I love bringing things back to life. I have a 1938 Mills Zephyr jukebox that plays 78rpm records. When I got it it had horrible paint on it, the veneer was all cracked and in bad shape and one of the motors was in pieces. Luckily the amplifier had been re-done. I...

Looking for 5th Dragoon Guards Helmet

So I have replaced the black leather on the chin chain with the proper brown. I found some soft leather on Etsy that looked close to the leather in the sample pictures Patrick posted. Found the exact right width as well so just had to cut to length. I have gained new respect for those that...

This one will be a challenge.....

So after receiving the helmet and seeing it I decided to leave it as-is, and as recommended by a few members. It has had substantial crush damage to the front under the wappen and the glue repair has saved it. I am very pleased with it. The chin strap is period and according to Amy an old...

This one will be a challenge.....

Thanks. If it looks too daunting when I get it I may just leave it alone. I have inherited a fix it bug in my DNA though……..

This one will be a challenge.....

Thanks. I knew the parts were worth it for sure. Will probably move the cockades to my Felt Prussian Guard Pickelhaube, which has copies. Hate separating things from helmets though. Wish someone didn't have the bright idea to put that glue in.

This one will be a challenge.....

Thanks Guys. I'll see what it is really like when I get it. Definitely won't have it on styrofoam! May just leave it alone like you say. Definitely an interesting chin strap as well. Cheers. Peter
