Hi all I have a Stahlblech, complete except for the Wappen. There are no visible marks inside the helmet. It has darkened 95 pattern spike and chin strap posts, which I believe are original to the helmet. Liner is original, with felt band etc. My problem is working out which wappen was fitted...

I would say that that has been replaced. Leather does shrink, but not that much. When a rear visor shrinks or curls, it tends to pinch in around the spine, not shrink away from it like that. Andy

Well I was hoping that this stuff would do the trick, but Im not really sure now, as it also acts on zinc I believe. I have used stuff called "brick mate" on grey wappen, to remove rust. I don`t know what it would be called in the States. It contains two different acids and needs to be diluted...

B J A IX Isnt that the repair mark for 9 armeekorps. A bit of research could tell you if there were wurts in 9th armeekorps. I havnt got time to look right now as I need to go back to work. I must confess this one dosnt look like a rebuilt fire helmet, tho I havnt spent a lot of time looking...

I think this has been discussed here already somewhere. Yes I believe it is a 1970`s copy, but Im sure some one will tell you exactly. My knowledge of these is limited to say the least. Beware of this seller!! He has been discussed many times on this forum. Most of what he sells is not correct...
