Thanks for sharing that picture. Drakegoodman has already solved the pouch-issue by the way: M1911 wire cutters. Makes sense...

    Barbed wire

Found a nice card showing a pile of barbed wire bobbins. The musiker has drumstick and a hanger, but what it in that pouch next to it? Enlighten me please. I was wondering if someone has even seen the cap badge on scene before (see close-up below). These guys are from the 30th...

Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 80: armed to the teeth

I've found some interesting pictures which some people might enjoy seeing, so I decided to post them here as well. As usual, they can be seen on flickr as well: http://www.flickr.com/photos/paranoid_womb/8294488197/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Same guys...

    Unofficial sleeve insignia

Unremarkable postcard - or is it? This weary looking soldier is wearing a M1910 Vereinfachte Feldrock which has no shoulder straps. On his sleeve, just above the barrel cuff, I noticed two stripes. I first figured this was a repair, but it is a bit to ordered for that I think. These look more...

    Photo Help

Sorry to rake up this one again guys, but I bounced into a similar picture and one helmet-decal can also be seen there. Is this picture being regarded as post-war or late-war? I always figured that decals were post-war or am I wrong?

Thanks for your opinion Joe. Good news.

    Preußische Versuchshelm Model 1905/06...?

The plaque seems to say L.J.R 83, so I guess the 83th Landwehr Infantry Regiment. The reserve cross is a bit strange though, I didn't know they used it also (on their caps). Maybe he's wearing his old cap?

    Preußische Versuchshelm Model 1905/06...?

Hi guys, I've picked up an unused postcard showing men of the 4th company of the Landwehr-Jnfanterie-Regiment Nr. 83 (Cassel), it is dated 1915. http://www.flickr.com/photos/paranoid_womb/7204857172/in/photostream" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I believe that most helmets...

... and proud of it! Help needed on IDing a sleeve badge

Thanks for your opinion Chip. I'd say it is identical to the E on Eisenbahn shoulder straps, so I'll settle for your Eisenbahn-Bau-Kompanie theory. Too bad we'll probably never know for sure. Sam

... and proud of it! Help needed on IDing a sleeve badge

A small CDV made in Graudenz showing a soldier in a pre-war waffenrock with brandenburg cuffs (possibly white in colour). He has a S71 bayonet with private purchase company troddel. On his sleeve is a badge with the cypher E above 2. It looks very similiar to what is seen on Eisenbahn shoulder...

    A very colonial day--and vote!

Thanks, it was very useful and also interesting to read that most were used by Colonial troops, as shown in my CDV. I had seen drawing of the carbine with bayonet lug before, but this artillery model was completely unknown to me. Sam
