Hi Ken, Welcome to the Forum. It looks to me that the bolt is still in the head of the eagle and the crown has broken off. Can you carefully unscrew it?? Bill

We had a good little thread in the old forum on helmet makers. I ran across a similar endevor in the Kaiserziet Journal so I will repeat their efforts. This was a compulation by many collectors some of which are with us on this forum. If anyone has any additions let me know and I will add them...

Joe Your spelling was correct. I just was reading about a helmet of Kaiser Wilhelm's with the crown monogram. The helmet maker was "Naumann" as listed by Bowman on Pg.251 of Vol I. I do believe that Bowman has another typo. Surprise, Surprise. Bill

Joe This catalog article is great and I fully expected it to generate some discussion. Tony and others with a good knowledge of the German language could you comment on Joe's translation of the four grades of helmet plates. I come up with a different translation and it hinges on the term...

Brian, This is a very key point that you are describing and would justify a few pictures to drive home your point. I have seen many a "General's" helmet that was no more than a Prussian officers helmet with a Bavarian spike. Bill

Joe, I am definitely looking forward to the SOS this year in Louisville. It will be great to see many of the members of the forum. Gus, Chas and yours truly had a great experience last year going through the helmets and discussing their faults / attributes etc. Quite a learning experience...
