Yes too much hand shaking with friends and of course strangers when a sale is completed. I let my guard down and got this result. I have often come down with a cold after the SOS unfortunately, but not like this. I usually blame James by the way. 😄😄

Very nice Steve and in excellent condition! My JR 93 helmet came with a Prussian M95 wappen on it but is clearly marked. Those helmets with the silver stars and heraldic shields on their eagle wappen are very cool to have in any collection. 👍

Progress on this project has been slow. I caught some sort of cold at the SOS end of February and I have been fighting off cough and fever ever since. Last week, I was diagnosed with "walking pneumonia" which explains what has been going on. Anyway, after some "super antibiotics" I am beginning...

Some real horror stories here! Fortunately, I have only bought one item from Europe/France an Anhalt M95 OR wappen. This arrived safely but initially, there was a problem with the auction company as they wanted payment in the "European Way" by bank transfer. This is very costly and complicated...

There is certainly a helmet there which can be restored but the wappen which is the most valuable part of this ensemble has some obvious issues! It will be interesting to see how this ends.

Sweat band installed: The new donor SwB did not fit quite as precisely as I initially thought. However, there is still enough overlap to glue the ends together and I will use some dye to lessen the colour difference. Next, the visors!

A very specific post here but perhaps some useful information for collectors. As you all know, I do restorations and get sent many different helmets to repair. In order to do these repairs I have to take helmets apart and remove fittings. Consequently, I get to see things which many collectors...
