Just curious what documentation you may have showing the history of this helmet and the soldier who brought it back. Showing the history and direct line of ownership for a documented helmet is very hard to do. I've seen very few photos of veterans holding a helmet they brought back. It's...

No problem, I'm sure you can understand why we responded the way did. The timing of the removal of the photos with no reason given it seemed you weren't happy with the opinions being offered.

I think the old saying " don't ask questions you don't want to know" would be very appropriate here. Would be curious to hear what the others think wherever he has it posted now.

    Freezing?

I do this with every single wool item that comes into the house including tunics. I've had luck with this formula for decades which was given to me by and older collector long since passed. One week in the freezer one week out and then one week back in. The idea at least the way it was told...

That is a rare beauty Kris, one that M15 collectors including myself are always looking for. In a publicized auction that one would go crazy for a realized price. (y)

A long shot restoration, any advice?

I truly wish you good luck and look forward to watching the helmets coming back from the grave. (y) I always see these helmets come up for sale and hope someone will buy them and bring them back to life otherwise sadly they have reached the end of the road.

    Kube auction May 17

I like the way Steve goes into Auctions I have a very similar approach. Just think of the price you would like to pay including fees and shipping bid that amount and walk away. I will admit that I prefer getting blown out of the water rather than getting out bid by 1 or 2 dollar.

If you still have a can, if possible, please look at the back there should be information regarding the Brewery's location. I did notice the 1516 logo on the bottom but it's not a bier they brew so I'm at a loss. How was it (y)
