I recently bought a k98 bayonet, but it came with this frog.
Apart from the fact it's unfortunately damaged, it seems to have a 1916 manufacturing date. Maybe from a WW1 S84/98? There's another marking looking a bit like Reit. R1 but I'm not entirely sure.
Adrian helmets are very pleasant to collect. You see them a lot (although finding one in good shape is more challenging) and are priced very reasonable. Especially compared to Germand helmets and Haubes.
This is mine. I used to have more. One of which was a big size, had clear markings and a killer patina. Of all items I ever owned, that's the one I regret the most of selling it.
That's a very beautiful camo. I would buy it any day! Congratulations.
The story about torn out liners due to head lice seems a bit stretched in my opinion.
If that would be a real issue you would see it often and with helmets of the other armies as well. More over a steel shell bouncing on...
Hi there,
You mean you bought one of them in a store in Ieper?
There's nothing wrong with them. But May I ask what you paid for them? In a toeristische place the price trends to go up of course :)
Knowing how much children love touching things I would not have the courage to do that 🙈
But great initiative. You could very well have inspired some of them! Are you a teacher?
Ahaa, I remember from earlier this year that someone mentioned the seller was a member here. And he was right it turns out.
I also have one of your sold helmets in my collection room. :)
The same seller had this very nice French zouave adrian helmet as well. Since this was the only type I still missed in my French helmet collection I didn't doubt long to buy this one as well.
For some reason I never got to add a Filzhaube to my collection. I've been screening for one for about half a year but most of the time they're priced too high or they have been bended or ripped or a combination ot both.
I found this one at the Military expo at Ciney in Belgium two weeks ago...
