    Mecklenburgisches Füsilier-Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm Nr.90

You don't have to name him, Steve, I know whom you are referring to. I might also ask.

    Mecklenburgisches Füsilier-Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm Nr.90

Many thanks, Coert. Yes, these are very rare. I may have seen two for sale in the past ten years, none of which had the correct M15 Mecklenburg spike... Even rarer is the M15 Strelitz. I cannot remember seeing a single one for sale. Steve owns one, perhaps.

Or rather, "Bruno m'a tuer"... Many thanks, Laurent, for what I take as a compliment.

    Mecklenburgisches Füsilier-Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm Nr.90

These are top pictures, K ! Mecklenburg soldiers are seldom seen in photo. I can only contribute with a few helmets.

You are correct, the Mecklenburg EM spike is taller:

    JR 73 trooper Helmet

Good point. I saw it and did not notice the discrepancy, although it is so obvious... The brown liner is not kosher either in a M95; it is sometimes encountered, but rather in private purchase helmets.

    Hohenfriedberg Bandeau/scroll

This is an early officer model (1867 or 1870), and the scroll is already stamped with the plate.

    Some of my collection.

You have been quite secretive about a collection you can be really proud of, Brian! Lovely Hessians, in particular. Is the 115 a "RBA 18" (the wartime model) ?

    JR 73 trooper Helmet

No. It was for sale online, this is where I saw it.

    Here is another one, Steve.

    Grenadier regiment 3

Lovely! Here is the grandfather. Not as attractive as an M95, although it has probably seen the 70 war.

All Quiet on the Western Front

Many thanks for the info, Louis. I am not into these things at all...

    JR 73 trooper Helmet

    Yes, indeed.

    JR 73 trooper Helmet

I saw this JR73 helmet, and asked myself the same question. We do not expect this kind of marking in such a helmet. There are, however, other examples, then why not? Hence this may be no mystery, Frontenac (pun intended).

    Württemberg spikehelmet metal

Sorry, Brian, I had not seen your comment. For once, I must disagree.... cockades with backing were originally worn on these helmets. These are seldom seen nowadays though.

    Württemberg spikehelmet metal

Correct, Pierrick. There were special cockades with backing for Bing and related helmets. Not many have survived !
