    Pickelhaube repair

I agree with Sandy. Pimp her up a bit without spending too much, and give her a decorative place in your home, collection or den. By the way, better put your newly acquired cockade on the other (right) side :thumb up:

(Solved)Need help with Dragoner Garde pickelhaube

"(...) We know that the Germans never threw anything out which could be revamped/repaired and reissued (...)" That is absolutely true, Brian! The only thing they ever threw out on their own initiative was a well-used and obsolete old Kaiser :D Oh yes, I certainly agree on the thickness and...

(Solved)Need help with Dragoner Garde pickelhaube

Hi Brian! Would the Knöpfe 91 be later additions then?

    Named Officer Helmet From Iowa

Hi Sandy! Yes, it's very well possible that it's "Jünemann" after all! I think you're right :thumb up:

    Named Officer Helmet From Iowa

Hi Brian! I think the name is Tünemann, with a T. Those German letters always were a bit of a bother, especially in the past, but also to a certain extend in the present. Doing things differently, that's what Germans like :D I've said it before, I'm saying it now, and I will undoubtedly say...

not a pickelhaube but thoughts please

This is the kind of thing that I would only consider real if I had dug it up myself, during one of my dozens of vacations in Verdun. There are SO many fakes, and SO much misplaced cretivity is used on them!

    2019

At the beginning of 2019 I have only one wish for all of you: May the worst day in your new year be better than the best day in the old one!

    bogus Tschapka

It's not a problem: he states that he made it himself. "Schöner Tschapka des Garderegiment Hannover, Eigenbau aber wunderschön gemacht. Wirklich schönes Stück und ein Augenfang in der Vitrine, siehe Bilder". Seems honest enough to me. The price? A bit stiff, but if one doesn't do one's homework...

Going, but not gone yet (grin)!

Guys, thanks for all your good wishes and your sympathy to this here ole deteriorating carcass :D! Much appreciated, and be assured that I will keep following and occasionally taking part in this fine forum! Yesterday I had a long talk in the hospital about the treatments that are being done...

    Saxon shako

I know very little about Tschakos. However, seen from the side the shape look completely wrong - even to me. The lower part of the body should follow the shape of the backside of head, and then towards the top should become considerably smaller.

They keep getting closer and closer

"(...) I am very tempted to buy one and spend a little time with my Dremel tool just to see how many people I could fool (...)" You're evil, John, evil (wide and amused grin)! The interesting though somewhat difficult issue with new plates stamped with old dies, is that (at least to my mind)...

Going, but not gone yet (grin)!

Greetings all! I've been kind of AWOL for some time, due to the rather imbecilic fact that I went far too late to see a doctor with a range of complaints that for too many years I'd ignored in a careless manner. Result: what must have started already years ago as a simple and easily repairable...

    Kaiser's Bunker Farewell to Fredericton

Tony, I wish you and yours the very best of lives in your new home! As for your collection of Pickelhauben and related head gear: even after the trimming it's still considerable in number, and truly astonishing in quality! All the best, mate!
